In summer, the pool becomes the favourite place to spend your days, relaxing under the sun and enjoying the refreshing effect of the water. What about winter? What should you do when summer ends?

First thing, do not empty. The first thing you might do is to  empty the pool for the winter, therefore  you can forget it until spring time arrives . It is a practice that, in addition to causing a large waste of water, can be at risk the integrity of the tank itself, which, without the water stabilizing function, could also yield in more points due to the pressure of the ground.

An active closure.  We recommend to prepare  an active closure of the pool, cleaning the bottom and the sides of the pool with the broom sucks mud or with an automatic cleaner, armed with a net and eliminating the dirt that floats on the water surface. Clean the skimmer baskets or the tank grids in the case of pool, and the pre-filter pump basket. As a last step, the backwash to clean the sand filter or alternatively the cleaning of the cartridges, if the filtration system is just to cartridges.

Control of water parameters. It is necessary to control water parameters, measuring chlorine and pH and adjusting them according to the recorded values. It is very important to bring the water to optimal values, in order to prevent the formation of algae during the closure of the pool.

The coverage. Completed all the procedures, it is time to cover the pool in order to protect the water from external pollution and cold. You can choose between a tubular, a roller shutter or a winter cover that is also suitable for winter protection.

Periodic checks. Clean the tank, adjust the water values and install the cover, just check the pH a couple of times in a month and, if necessary, intervene for corrections. A minimum maintenance will ensure a swimming pool ready for the summer.
